Falling plank struck toddler on the head in ‘horrendous’ incident

A self-employed builder has been handed a suspended prison sentence after a three-year-old girl in a pushchair was hit on the head by a falling timber plank.

A manufacturer of luxury camping – or “glamping” – pods that closed earlier this year is to appeal its fine. The £32,000 penalty was handed down after its failure to comply with an improvement notice relating to noise exposure.
