Only 3 days to go - ISO 45001 is due to be published on Monday 12 March!

From the archive:  Just so you know, this article is more than 3 years old.

iso-45001-to-be-published-monday-12-march

As this is a new ISO standard, the structure and content has been completely revised, with new and enhanced requirements throughout. The new structure is arranged into 10 sections (Annex SL). The requirements of the standard are defined in sections 4-10 inclusively and are capable of being aligned to other recently revised ISO management systems, such as ISO 9001 or ISO 14001.

Remember - as with all management systems, it is not about just complying with the individual clauses but how these requirements relate to each other, and work together to provide an effective system.

The new ISO standard builds on previous OHSMS standard (OHSAS 18001) and promotes the integration of the health and safety system in to the core management of the organization. The requirements are designed and required to interrelate to other sections, performance, information and changes and cannot operate effectively in isolation. Whether you're considering obtaining ISO 45001 certification from scratch or already have an OHSAS 18001 and are looking migrate, the certification process is similar.

If you're migrating from OHSAS 18001, you will already be aware that ISO 45001 will replace OHSAS 18001 and current users of OHSAS 18001 will need to update their systems according to the requirements of the new international occupational health and safety standard within a three year migration period that will commence after the standard is published for use.

We will be launching our handy OHSAS 18001 to ISO 45001 Gap Guide on Monday -- get in touch today to pre order your copy: by emailing [email protected] or calling 0800 052 2424.

We are here to help: NQA are committed to translating the language of the new standard, to help users interpret new concepts and manage system changes more easily.

Are you losing sleep over safety worries?

Friday 2nd March 2018
One of the biggest issues for many firms can be that the person put in charge of electrical (or building) safety is not a technical expert. Bill Bates, a former Health and Safety Executive principal inspector with over 20 years of investigating electrical safety breaches, says: “It is becoming increasingly prevalent that those responsible for controlling electrical risks have little electrical experience.
