About the participants
Martin Cottam, group technical assurance and quality director at Lloyd’s Register
Martin Cottam has overall responsibility for quality management and technical governance at Lloyd’s Register and has contributed to the development and revisions of several standards, including OHSAS 18001 and the ISO 55000 series. He is a member of BSI’s management systems expert group and chaired the BSI Committee HS/1 throughout the development of ISO 45001. He currently chairs the ISO technical committee for occupational health and safety management (ISO/TC 283).

Kate Field, global product champion for health and safety, BSI
Kate Field acts as an expert and ambassador on occupational safety and health for the British Standards Institution’s (BSI) global assurance business, supporting the delivery of its services in 193 countries. She started her career with the Health and Safety Executive as a regulatory inspector before moving into policy. After working as consultant in the private sector, which included spells with AgustaWestland (now Leonardo), Bureau Veritas and easyJet, she joined IOSH as head of information and intelligence.
BSI has over 86,000 clients in 193 countries and provides copies of standards, training, certification and software systems for management systems, including ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001.
Terry Fisher, occupational health and safety principal assessor, NQA Certification
Terry Fisher is an experienced safety and health professional and auditor who specialises in OSH. He has extensive experience working across a variety of public and private organisations and industries, including the automotive sector, heavy engineering,
medical manufacturing, general manufacturing, transport and logistics. Terry is an IOSH member and a recognised OHSAS 18001 trainer to new third-party assessment auditors who deliver safety-related auditor training courses.
NQA is a leading UKAS accredited certification body that provides certification, training and support services. With over 30 years’ experience and 43,000 certificates issued in over 90 countries, it specialises in management systems certification for quality (including automotive and aerospace sectors), energy and environment, health and safety and information security.
Gerald Higgins, CEO Pegasus Legal Register and Antaris Consulting
Gerald Higgins, who is CEO of parent company Antaris Consulting, has over 40 years’ experience in technical and management consultancy across a range of sectors. He is a chartered engineer and Fellow of Engineers Ireland. He has lectured on health and safety, environmental and quality issues in Ireland, the UK, the US, Europe and Asia. He is author of the Irish guide to environmental management systems.
