IOSH 2016 programme unveiled

Open-access content Thursday 4th February 2016
From the archive:  Just so you know, this article is more than 3 years old.

Dr Karen McDonnell, speaking at IOSH 2015

Delegates at IOSH 2016 will be able to find out how to inspire and influence internal and external stakeholders to integrate safety and health into the fabric of their organisation.

They will be able to get first-hand advice from leading professionals who have influenced long-term change and learn about the latest safety and health developments and innovations.

The conference theme will be 'Influential leadership: delivering impact -- sustaining change'. It will be the third and final part of a series of IOSH international conferences on the leadership theme, allowing delegates to build on the knowledge gained at the previous two annual conferences.

Sir Clive Woodward, who won the Rugby World Cup as England coach in 2003, will be a keynote speaker while TV and radio journalist Tanya Beckett will chair the conference.

The conference, being held at ExCeL London on 21-22 June, will be split into four tracks of sessions, allowing delegates to pick which best suits their needs.

Track A will be 'How to influence -- internally and externally'. Speakers will include Malcolm Staves, corporate health and safety director of L'Oreal; and Dr Shaun Lundy, academic portfolio leader for the Department of Built Environment at the University of Greenwich.

Track B is titled 'Business risk and resilience' and will include presentations from Mary Lawrence, head of health and safety at Osborne Clark; and Magnus Carter, founder of Mentor Ltd.

'Innovation across programmes, strategy and technology' will be the title for Track C. Seamus Keogh, chief operating officer at Clancy Docwra; and Paul Williams, head of health and safety at Peabody, will be among speakers.

Meanwhile 'Positioning for the future' will be the theme of Track D, featuring presentations by Michael Emery, SHE manager for Secure Health and Safety; and John Green, director HSE, Laing O'Rourke Europe.

There will also be plenary sessions over the two days, with topics including IOSH's research projects and the health of the nation.

IOSH president Dr Karen McDonnell said: "I am delighted that several high-profile speakers are already on a programme which will be rich in content, vital information and inspirational case studies."
