How to enhance your health and safety career at RGU

Sponsored content
Open-access content Thursday 25th April 2019
From the archive:  Just so you know, this article is more than 3 years old.

To achieve this, course content covers not only the functional knowledge required for the HSR professional, but also the management skills and knowledge which will enable participants to contextualise their learning within an organisation or industry of their choice.
Over the years, RGU has established a close connection with the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and the course, which is taught online by RGU's Aberdeen Business School, is fully accredited by the industry body. This assures the course is of direct relevance to the real world of business, as well as meeting the highest standards for managing health and safety.
Anne Stevenson, who is the Academic Team Lead in the Department of People, Policy and Practice at Aberdeen Business School, said the course is business-connected and works with relevant professional networks to ensure it is having the right impact on students and their careers.
She said: "Taking a demand-led approach and addressing the national skills-needs of today means the course is fully relevant to the professional world. Those who wish to pursue a career in this area will be able to use the knowledge gained on the course in a variety of industries.
"The course is online and can be studied part-time or full-time, which means that practising health and safety professionals plus managers who have day-to-day responsibility for the health and safety of the workforce, can achieve professional development without having to take a career break."
