This strategy is important for the UK's future, encompassing a wide spectrum from transport, infrastructure, new technology and the digital economy, through to skills, education, energy and the natural environment.
IOSH explained why it's vital that good health and safety is integral to all this, saving lives and also helping build reputation, resilience and results.
The Institution's clear message included the point that "good occupational safety and health is essential for the successful delivery of this Industrial Strategy and equipping the UK for a sustainable future".
IOSH highlighted to Government the diversity and special interests of health and safety professionals across its member Groups, the UK's potential to lead on health and safety and risk management expertise, and all the resources, research and tools that IOSH has to offer.
Richard Jones, IOSH's Head of Policy and Public Affairs, said: "As well as compelling moral and legal imperatives for good health and safety risk management, we also outlined the strong business, reputational and societal ones.
"Socially responsible design and delivery of this Industrial Strategy will give the UK new opportunities to lead on health and safety and risk management expertise, both now and into the future.
"We're keen to work with industry and Government to ensure practical health and safety is embedded throughout -- from training and skills development to design and delivery of major infrastructure and emerging industries."
