The International Organization for Standardization’s (ISO) 9001, 14001 and 45001 systems, the latter of which is in development, help businesses to cut costs and increase efficiency.

Four roadshow events are being held by IOSH across the UK: in Edinburgh on 27 March; Bristol on 29 March; Coventry on 30 March; and Leeds on 31 March.

The ISO 45001 standard will be introduced by Kristian Glaesel, Managing Director of Glaesel HSEQ Management. Kristian is also Convenor of the committee responsible for drawing up ISO 45001.

It is hoped the standard will be published by the end of this year. It will give organisations a universally-accepted framework for improving employee health and safety, reducing workplace risks and creating healthier, safer working conditions.

David Smith, Director of IMS Risk Solutions and Chair of the BSI Management Systems Expert Group, will speak about ISO 9001, the system designed to help organisations prove their ability to provide products and services which meet the needs of their consumers.

And Nigel Leehane will talk about ISO 14001, the internationally-recognised environmental management system standard. Nigel is Technical Director for SLR Consulting Ltd and Chair of the BSI sub-committee on environmental management systems.

Richard Jones, Head of Policy and Public Affairs at IOSH, said: “This is a great opportunity for delegates to learn more about and discuss these important ISO standards with experts who’ve been closely involved in their development.

“There’ll be particular emphasis on the new requirements for considering the context of the organisation, the key role of leadership, performance indicators and the need for these standards to be integrated into the overall business process.”
