Jonathan Nobbs, Head of Product at IOSH, gave a presentation about the courses – Leading Safely, Managing Safely and Working Safely – which have been updated to reflect the growing appetite for country-specific training on worker protection.

Jonathan outlined the changes which have been made, which include the introduction of statistics and laws from different countries. He also focused on how the refreshed courses can help business performance through effective occupational safety and health.

Meanwhile, IOSH’s Training and Skills team staged an exhibition with more information for delegates, including new workbooks.

Dina Alkhalidi, Head of Customer Engagement at IOSH, said: “The refreshed courses overall will have a positive impact on the international training market as it offers the trainers the flexibility to add international content to their delivery.”

The conference was held at the Al Raha Beach Hotel in Abu Dhabi and also saw updates from local organisations.

The keynote address was given by Eng. Hamdan Al Saedi, Director of Environment, Health and Safety at the Ministry of Education. Meanwhile updates were also provided by the Abu Dhabi Occupational Safety and Health Center, Dubai Municipality and PepsiCo.

Ahead of the conference, IOSH published the findings of a survey, which revealed that nine in ten business leaders across the Middle East are identifying worker protection against injury and ill health as vital to safeguarding their businesses’ reputation and resilience and improving productivity.
