Eave is an award-winning UK-based health-tech start-up that has developed a noise management system to provide complete hearing protection for workers in noise.
We work with responsible employers who choose to actively manage noise to ensure their employees are protected.
The system features an online data platform, Peak. Environmental noise is submitted to Peak through smart ear defenders (our headset, FocusLite), which continuously collect data on the wearer’s exposure to noise on-site. This data is transmitted to Peak. The Peak dashboard displays advanced data analytics in simple, efficient graph formats so you can quickly assess where noise is an issue and whether your workforce is being exposed so that you can take action to protect them.
The usual hearing protection, such as earplugs and earmuffs, is ineffective and can put wearers at significant risk as they block out sound entirely, leaving the wearer vulnerable to accident and injury.
At Eave, we have built a system that protects hearing, allows the wearer to hear at a safe level and a platform that shows you the data.
What are the benefits of Eave’s headset, the FocusLite?
Our innovative headsets have built-in hear-through technology, giving the wearer 360° situational awareness while fully protected.
A microphone on the outside of the helmet takes in all environmental noise, which is then played back through the internal speaker at a safe level.
The FocusLite headset also measures the noise level once every 10 seconds. This measurement is taken both inside and outside the ear cup. This information builds a picture of the environmental noise and the noise the wearer is exposed to.
What are the benefits of Eave’s data platform, Peak?
Peak shows you whether someone is being exposed to noise and to what level, which is something that passive hearing defenders cannot do. Using our system, you can assess where noise is an issue on-site and take measures to address this and protect your workforce. You can also use our platform to produce reports to verify that the site is compliant with noise regulations and to demonstrate compliance with HSE standards.
Peak helps you to understand the noise levels your site is producing through a simple user interface of our data platform. It enables you to manage risk of overexposure and to ensure the health and safety of your people. Through daily notifications and alerts, Peak will contact you via text and/or email if anyone has been exposed to high noise so that you can investigate and remedy it swiftly.
Our customer support team are on hand to provide training on the noise management system. They will offer guidance on the Peak data and arrange additional headsets should you expand the site or the team.
You also have the option to choose noise mapping for your site. Our field technicians strategically place Beacons around the site that feedback data to Peak so you can see what areas are most affected by noise and take appropriate action.
We aim to be flexible, responsive, and collaborative in order to meet your site’s needs.
The story of Eave
Eave was founded by clinical and research audiologist Dr David Greenberg in 2016. During his tenure at the NHS, David discovered the devastating impact that hearing loss has on people’s lives. Many of his patients lost their hearing at work due to inadequate hearing protection, such as earplugs and earmuffs. This prompted David to leave the NHS and build Eave to find a solution for Noise-Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL).
Today, Eave consists of highly skilled engineers, dedicated customer support, compassionate business support, an enthusiastic sales team and an experienced executive team and board. Everyone at Eave contributes to creating the most effective product solution to help our customers manage noise and protect their employees.
Technology is ever-evolving, and so are we. We are continuously working to ensure our product is up to date and highly effective.
We are currently working with seven out of 10 of the UK’s biggest construction companies and on such large-scale projects as HS2 and at Gatwick Airport.
