By Darren Sutton, Behavioural Safety Services and Training
I’m in reflective mode today, as it’s exactly one year since Linda Barrett BSc (Hons), Zach Murphy and I went through the reassuringly rigorous process of getting our Behavioural Science and Performance Psychology programmes formally assessed and approved by IOSH and Laura Wilding (She, Her).
I’ve also realised that it’s almost exactly seven years ago that I received a text message from one of our first nationwide clients who encouraged me (well, pretty much forced me) to find a way of creating an online version of our original Behavioural Safety Leadership programme.
Here’s how that text conversation went, back in November 2014. You’ve seen how the message started – here’s the second part.
I was very reluctant to even try to recreate a fully online version of the live and highly interactive two day programme.
I didn’t believe it was possible to capture the same impact that we all felt from the live programme, but I’m very glad that we tried, and then tried again through four iterations, until we had something that we were proud of and that worked.
These two new programmes that we created last year have had the benefit of significantly improved technology that enables even better interactions with the learner in an online environment.
Thanks for your original encouragement Mike – and to all those delegates who have taken these programmes over the last seven years. It’s been wonderful to see how online learning has grown and played a huge part in personal development during the restricted working conditions of Covid.
If you’ve ever been reluctant to try a new way of doing things, I would encourage you to at least give it a go. It’s worth the effort and commitment, and you’ll be amazed at the support and encouragement that you’ll get from people along the way.
