“An Introduction to Fume Control”, will be run via Zoom on 1 June 2021 at 12pm.
At RVT Group, we believe it is essential for workers to fully understand occupational health hazards; only by doing so, can they protect themselves and others on site. As such, our technical experts have developed a range of informative CPD accredited training sessions that raise awareness about specific health hazards.
With specific focuses on welding, solvent and exhaust fumes, the one-hour CPD session confronts you with the devastating effects fume exposure can have on your long-term health. We will introduce you to the innovative 3C’s method (Capture, Contain, Control) methodology and show you how it can be applied specifically to different types of fume on site. We will also give examples of real live case studies and show you the compliant fume control equipment available based on current best practice. Being aware of these health hazards and implementing effective systems to minimise their effects is what will make a difference to protecting long term health.
This session will include 45 minutes of teaching with a 15-minute Q&A session, and count as 1 hour toward your continued professional development training. All attendees will receive a one-hour CPD certificate upon completion. This session will also be presented by our technical expert Kevin Dupont, who recently presented at our successful Action on Respiratory Health Summit, which drew an audience of more than 300 industry professionals.
Why is it important that I attend?
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has reported that:
- More than 75,000 workers are exposed to welding fumes, with around 152 deaths per year from fume-related lung cancer.
- Diesel Engine Exhaust Emissions (DEEEs) cause an estimated 625 deaths, and over 10,000 workers are exposed to DEEEs.
- Lung cancer caused by Radon gas exposure kills an estimated 184 people per year.
To protect workers from fumes and prevent them from becoming statistics, education is vital.
CPD stands for Continued Professional Development, and CPD UK is a nationally recognised training provider. Attending a CPD UK approved training presentation allows you to learn new skills and develop your understanding of best practice solutions. More importantly, keeping your health and safety knowledge up to date will ensure that you and your colleagues go home healthy.
