Matt has been a member of IOSH since leaving the Armed Forces, Corps of Royal Engineers, in 2011.
As part of his service, he was responsible for overseeing military construction projects in the UK and overseas, which involved a great deal of health and safety management. It was a natural transition for Matt to continue his career in health and safety management after leaving the Armed Forces.
Matt is currently the head of HSE for engineering consultancy WSP in the Middle East. WSP is one of the world’s leading professional services firms, offering clients technical expertise and strategic advice across a variety of sectors.
'Becoming a Chartered Fellow of IOSH is the pinnacle of my career'
Transitioning to the Middle East market saw Matt quickly become involved with IOSH’s UAE branch. He served on the committee in a variety of roles and was the chair for two years. He is chair of the IOSH Consultancy Group and serves members on the IOSH Council, ensuring their voices are heard.
Matt said: 'Becoming a Chartered Fellow of IOSH is the pinnacle of my career. To be recognised for my commitment to the profession and having the opportunity to give something back is a career highlight.
'I believe that gaining the accolade allows me to demonstrate – to current and future employers – that I go above and beyond what is expected in the best interests of my profession.'
