The minimum percentage of registration dossiers to be checked for compliance under European chemicals legislation has increased.
Regulation (EU) 2020/507 amends Regulation (EC) 1907/2006, on the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH). This amendment increases the minimum percentage of registration dossiers to be checked for compliance from 5% to 20%.
The amendment states the increase should be achieved by 31 December 2023.
In order to ensure registration dossiers comply with REACH, the European Chemicals Agency is required to select a specific percentage for compliance checking.
A report on the operation of REACH identified non- compliance of registration dossiers as an issue requiring urgent action.
Following consultation, there was a request to increase the minimum percentage of registration dossiers to be checked for compliance.
