West Midlands manufacturer is helping Britain get back to work with innovative new safety visor for uniforms featuring baseball caps

From the archive:  Just so you know, this article is more than 2 years old.

tecman

In addition to the original protective visor used by the NHS and healthcare workers, Tecman has developed a pioneering new design to provide face and eye protection for workers who are required to wear a peaked visor or baseball cap during their day-to-day work.

Spurred on by the success of their original visor, the team put their thinking caps on and came up with this brand new version to boost the health and safety of employees who wear baseball caps as part of their uniform.

The development will enable a new tranche of employees to return to work – those who have, until now, been unable to do their jobs due to concerns about their personal safety.

Comfort and protection

Designed for maximum comfort, as well as protection, the new cap shield is held in place with a soft elasticated strap that gently curves the visor around the face.

The protective visor is manufactured from clear, anti-fog optical grade film and medical grade materials. As a result, the wearer’s face is completely visible, making interaction with customers a more personal experience for staff and customers alike.

The clever curved universal visor slot is designed to fit perfectly over peaked visors on caps. The new design can be easily branded, and features a writable nameplate designed for identification and to avoid cross contamination.

This innovative new product supports Tecman’s vision to become a world leader in the development and manufacture of face and eye protection, under the name Tecman Advanced Healthcare Products. The established Leamington-based manufacturer recently invested heavily in premises, equipment and staff to enable the production of over 1 million protective face shields for NHS workers.

Tecman’s Technical Director, Kevin Porter, adds: “Our original design of protective face shields have proved to be essential for many vulnerable workers, but we won’t stop there. We’ve begun consulting frontline staff to establish their needs and concerns, and we are incorporating their feedback in our design and manufacturing process. This ongoing consultation is a vital part of our mission to create the best possible protective products.”
