As the UK looks to get back to work, cleaning and disinfecting has moved up the corporate agenda and demand has soared for specialist cleaning equipment. Many companies and professional cleaning firms are now looking to add kit such as disinfectant foggers to their arsenal of equipment for disinfecting against Covid-19 and the online options for buying them are proliferating. But, how do you know what you are buying and avoid ‘unscrupulous profiteers’?
One answer is to look for experts in the field. The Professional Sprayers People (PSP) last year signed an exclusive distribution agreement with Brazil’s Guarany for its range of professional sprayers. Guarany are a leading international manufacturer of environmental health equipment, producing machinery for vector control, pest control and for disinfection and sanitation. Their sprayers and foggers are being used around the world to clean and disinfect to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
Guarany, founded in 1923, is no newcomer to the disinfection and sanitation marketplace. The company’s expertise in this arena goes back many decades and is built on its agricultural spraying knowledge, itself built through investment in the best engineers and technologies. In the 1960s, the company expanded to develop spraying equipment to help fight and control diseases such as yellow fever, malaria, dengue fever, Chagas disease and schistosomiasis.
Working with the World Health Organisation
In the 1980s, Guarany began working with the World Health Organisation (WHO) and, later, was invited to join a committee of a select group of companies charged with determining the guidelines for the application of products to fight vectors (carriers of disease e.g. viruses, bacteria and parasites) that cause endemic diseases. The company was also asked to draw up specifications for the machines that would be used to apply these products. Guarany’s equipment was subsequently given WHO certification.
PSP is bringing Guarany’s specialist environmental health range to the UK and France. PSP has worked with Guarany for a decade, having developed a Flexible Firefighting Backpack Sprayer, which is now used by 80% of the UK’s fire services, with the Brazilian firm. PSP is part of the Spray People Group (SPG) which has more than 40 years experience in industrial spraying applications.
As well as the Electric Fogger, Guarany’s Environmental Health range includes the Knapsack Nebuliser for large scale disinfecting and a full range of compression sprayers, backpack sprayers, and high-pressure sprayers which can be used for small-medium scale cleaning and disinfecting operations.
Director of PSP Ivan Zytynski says we have a lot to learn from Guarany. “This is a company with the highest pedigree. Not only do their products meet international standards, they set them and their decades of experience in disinfecting against disease is something we can draw on here in the UK.”
